“Kashmir valley will witness slight rainfall during the coming two days as a mild rainfall is expected,” T K Jotshi, Assistant Director, meteorological department Srinagar said.
He said the western disturbances over Jammu and Kashmir have created an effect bringing in the much needed change and the valley is expected to witness rainfall, albeit for a short duration of time.
“The change will bring down the day time temperatures by a few degrees. However, the night temperatures will witness an increase,” he said.
Pertinently, Kashmir valley had experienced a minimum temperature of zero degrees Celsius during the past week. “We have already experienced a minimum temperature of zero degrees, but the scenario will witness a change as the coming nights will be much warmer,” Jotshi added.
Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to rise in other north Indian states in the coming few days.
The India Meteorological Department on Wednesday said that the temperature fluctuations could go on till mid-November.
"Western Disturbances over the Jammu and Kashmir region are leading to the rise in temperature in Delhi and other northern states.
The minimum temperature recorded in the capital Wednesday was 15.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees above the average. The maximum temperature Tuesday touched 31 degrees Celsius, a notch above the average.
The IMD website updates indicated that the minimum temperatures in most parts of Rajasthan were three to six degrees above average.
