After fateha khwani at Sofi’s ancestral graveyard at Malateng, a large number of mourners gathered at his residence in Buchwara for a condolence meeting, saying that the void left by the journalist could not be filled.
Those who attended the service included the minister for rural development, Ali Muhammad Sagar, senior Hurriyat (M) leader Shabir Ahmad Shah, and the provincial president of the alliance, Nayeem Ahmad Khan.
Recalling Sofi’s role, Shah said that the departed journalist had been gifted with a high sense of values and had made a name of himself in the field.
Noted journalist, Shuja’at Bukhari, said that Sofi had taken to the profession at a very difficult time, and his contributions in the field were a legacy that should be upheld and acknowledged.
