The students and faculty members of MERC & EMMRC attended the meeting presided over by Head of the Department, MERC Dr. Shahid Rasool.
Highlighting the contribution of Late Khawja Sahib, Dr. Shahid Rasool said, “as an ace editor Khawja Sahib worked tirelessly during difficult times and despite heavy odds was able to sustain the publication without succumbing to the pulls and pressures from various quarters”. Khawja Sahib had devoted himself fully to the
profession he had opted for” he remarked.
Paying tributes to the departed soul, Nasir Mirza, Sr. faculty MERC, described Khawja Sahib as a pioneering genius whose services to urdu journalism will never be forgotten. He was the teachers’ teacher and editors’ editor remarked Mirza while referring to the number of prominent journalists who learnt their first lessons in journalism at Aftab.
Speaking on the occasion Ajaz-ul-Haque, Sr. Producer EMMRC, said, “The valuable guidance support and encouragement offered by Khawja Sahib helped the emergence and growth of English journalism in Kashmir” “Khajwa Sahib was a caring and affectionate person whose guidance shaped the career of many in the field”, he added.
Reciting Fathiha, the participants prayed for the peace to the Late editor-in-chief of the Daily Aftab.
