Katherine Gogel  - Gangabal being developed as "eco-tourism" site   |2010-07-04 20:49:33
it is a true shame that Naranag and Gangabal should be developed as tourist attractions. Where ever crowds of tourists flock in
these delicate regions, people drop rubbish indiscriminately with no thought or respect to the environment. How can anyone develop
Gangabal as an "eco-tourism" spot when the government is not even paying attention to the rubbish situation along the
Yatra route between Pahalgam and Amarnath? Leave Gangabal alone and let the hard core trekkers hike on their own 2 feet up there
if they have the strength. Already too many of those trekkers are leaving behind piles of rubbish and it is desecrating the
pristine alpine environment.
